The seminar will provide you with an understanding of key investment and underwriting parameters that drive real estate price and value dynamics. Practice areas for which this seminar will be especially useful include real estate finance and investment; tax certiorari and condemnation; workouts and bankruptcy; various estate and income taxation. The course will begin with an overview of current real estate market conditions, with emphasis on the New York City region. The course will then focus on basic principles of real estate valuation to facilitate analysis and understanding of current market dynamics. Core concepts that will be explored include analysis of net operating income, cap rates and value trends. These concepts will be explored from the perspective of the lender and equity investor. The seminar will conclude with an overview of current investment strategies, utilizing concepts explained during the course. In the process the legal professional will gain an understanding of the fundamentals of real estate valuation as well as the semantics of everyday uses of valuation terminology.
