This seminar is geared to those representing nonprofits on a regular basis who are already knowledgeable on issues related to formation, obtaining recognition of tax exempt status and registration with the Charities Bureau, topics addressed in recent CLEs. Topics which may be addressed include state and local tax exemptions, governance policies (including new rules regarding the need for investment policies and IRS rules encouraging policies on conflicts, whistleblowers and document retention), real estate issues for nonprofits, "safe harbor" rules for setting executive compensation, raffles and sweepstakes, and issues related to "friends of" foreign nonprofits.
