(VIDEO REPLAY) Supreme Court - A Year in Review

September 17, 2012

During the October 2011 Term, the Supreme Court ruled on cases presenting some of the most contested issues, including police planting of GPS devices on cars, the constitutionality of the prohibition of "fleeting expletives" over television and radio, the constitutionality of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, and state laws penalizing non-compliance with federal immigration requirements, all making for an exciting "year in review." At this program, a prominent panel including former Supreme Court law clerks, constitutional scholars, litigators, and a federal district court judge will examine, review, and debate the leading Supreme Court decisions of the term and their impact on the future. The speakers represent diverse points of view and perspectives and will provide insightful discussions of the Court's decisions. The panel will specifically cover the Supreme Court's colorful docket this term, which included major cases involving: œ The First Amendment (Hosanna-Tabor Evangelical Lutheran Church & School v. EEOC; United States v. Alvarez; FCC v. Fox Television Stations, Inc.) œ Procedure & Federal Jurisdiction (CompuCredit Corp. v. Greenwood; First American Financial Corp. v. Edwards) œ Immigration, Foreign Relations & International Law (Arizona v. United States; Zivotofsky v. Clinton; Mohamad v. Palestinian Authority) œ Health Care Cases (Dep't. of Health & Human Services v. Florida) œ Criminal Law & Procedure (United States v. Jones; Missouri v. Frye; Florence v. Burlington County) This timely program will be of interest to all criminal or civil practitioners.
