Corporate conduct is under increasing scrutiny by both criminal and civil regulatory authorities on the federal, state, and local levels. Regulators (both public and private) and courts are requiring the use of monitors to prevent and deter perceived corporate misconduct. At this seminar, a panel of experts discussed various aspects of the roles and responsibilities of monitors appointed (voluntarily or otherwise) arising out of criminal and civil regulatory investigations. The program covered legal and ethical considerations for monitors, regulation and oversight of monitors, codes of conduct, as well as the benefits and drawbacks of monitorships. This program was designed for lawyers who practice state and federal criminal law, compliance and regulatory law, and civil and corporate law.
